What this download utility cannot do

Most of these are choices rather than gaps. They are what keeps the tool on the right side of the line.

What it cannot do

  • It accepts direct https links to a media file only. Page URLs from video platforms are not supported.
  • It does not bypass DRM, authentication, paywalls, CAPTCHAs, or any other access control.
  • It contains no platform extractor, no scraping, and no signature or cipher handling.
  • Many hosts refuse cross-origin reads, so downloads will sometimes fail. This is expected, is explained when it happens, and is never worked around.
  • There is no server proxy, and one will not be added.
  • The file is held in browser memory while downloading, so very large files may fail on a phone. Use the browser’s own "Save link as…" for those.
  • No cookies or credentials are sent, so private or sign-in-protected media is out of reach by design.
  • Private, loopback and link-local addresses are refused, as are http, file, data, blob and javascript URLs.
  • It cannot resume an interrupted download, even where the host reports that byte ranges are supported.
  • This page is not legal advice. Copyright and contract rules vary by country and by platform.
  • The rights confirmation is a statement by you, not verification by this tool.
  • The tool cannot tell whether you are actually entitled to a file, and does not try to.
  • No platform-specific support exists or will be added, for any platform.
  • Media requiring authentication is unreachable, because no cookies or credentials are ever sent.
  • Hosts that refuse cross-origin reads cannot be downloaded from here, and no workaround is offered.
