The one network request this tool makes

This tool does not bypass platform protections or scrape private endpoints. Any network request it makes is stated in the interface before it happens.

Unlike the other ToolAcre tools, this one does reach the network — that is its whole purpose. So the honest claim is narrower than "nothing leaves your device", and the badge above says so rather than repeating the standard wording.

What happens is this: when you press "Check link" your browser asks the host in your link for that file’s headers, and when you press "Download" it asks for the file. Both requests go from your device straight to that host. There is no ToolAcre server in the path, because this product does not have one.

What is never sent

No cookies and no credentials are attached to either request, so this tool cannot act as a signed-in user anywhere.

The referrer is suppressed, so the host you download from is not told which page the request came from.

Your URL is not logged, stored, or transmitted anywhere other than as the request to the host you chose. There is no analytics, no error reporting service and no telemetry of any kind. The audited project sent full error objects including target URLs to a third-party service and loaded Google Analytics on every page; neither exists here.

Nothing happens until you act

Typing in the box makes no network request. The feedback line under it is produced entirely on your device, by checking that the link is https and that the host is not a private address.

Only the "Check link" and "Download" buttons reach the network, and "Clear" drops the link, the downloaded bytes and the reported details from the tab.

Advertising and analytics

Both are disabled, in every environment. There is no advertising script, no analytics script, no tag manager and no tracking pixel in this product, and no advertising or analytics identifier exists in the source code.

That is not a temporary setting. This product is marked as ineligible for advertising in the product registry, because a tool that fetches a file on a visitor’s behalf cannot evaluate whether the content provider permits it, and an advertising network is entitled to take a view on that.

A note on what you download

Only download media you own or are authorized to download.

This tool does not bypass DRM, authentication, paywalls, or access controls.

Responsibility for having the right to a file rests with you. If you are unsure, ask the rights holder before downloading.
